Not sure exactly, but interested in health policy/equity, ultrasound, and quality and patient safety alongside clinical work.
What did you do the summer before internship?
Went to Puerto Rico, home to Colorado, relaxed.
What do you like to do outside of medicine?
Cook, hike, surf, basketball, read, breweries, restaurants, TV.
Reflections on the Pitt EM Program
What were you looking for in a residency program?
An environment where people seemed happy and enjoyed working/hanging together, strong clinical training, opportunities in health policy/equity, fun city.
What are the strengths of the Pitt EM program?
Strong clinical training, friendly/down-to-earth attendings who love to teach and support residents, rotating at multiple hospitals allows for a wide range of clinical experiences, and a lot of opportunity for mentorship.
What has surprised you most about Pitt?
How down-to-earth the attendings are in the department.
About Pitt EM and Pittsburgh
What do you like best about living in Pittsburgh/Western PA?
Cost of living is good, great breweries and food, everything is all pretty close together, so commuting is easy. Frick and Schenley Parks are great green spaces within the city.
Where did you choose to live, and why?
Shadyside – good restaurants, nice tree-lined streets, and central to all of our main hospitals.
What advice would you give to incoming residents about moving to the 'Burgh?
It’s a great town with a lot more to offer than you might think if you don’t know Pittsburgh at all. There’s still a ton I haven’t explored despite being here for several years. I would try to visit and explore the different neighborhoods, try some good restaurants, and see if it feels like a good fit for you.
