About Me

Hometown:  Burnt Hills, NY
College/University:  Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
Medical School:  Albany Medical College

What are your career goals?
A balance of both academic and community emergency medicine, and also interested in CCM fellowships.

What did you do the summer before internship?
Attended some friends' weddings, hung out with family and friends as much as possible, and lots of relaxation.

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
I like to spend time outdoors as much as possible. I love hiking, running, and going on walks to explore new parts of Pittsburgh. I'm also a foodie and love trying new restaurants and bars. Otherwise, I'm hanging out with friends or spending time with my fiance.

Reflections on the Pitt EM Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
Somewhere with high volume/acuity that exposed me to academic, county, and community emergency medicine via different hospital experiences as well as in the various niches/fellowships in emergency medicine. Most importantly, I wanted to find a place to train that I felt was a good fit for both me and my fiance. Pittsburgh checks all of those boxes!

What are the strengths of the Pitt EM program?
Everything I mentioned above. Additionally, at Pitt you get the privilege to work with and learn from some of the best EM physicians in the country who are all so down to earth and love to teach. I know I'll come out of residency with the best training and be prepared to practice anywhere.

What has surprised you most about Pitt?
UPMC is huge! And everyone here is so nice and willing to help, even in other depts.

About Pitt EM and Pittsburgh

What do you like best about living in Pittsburgh/Western PA?
Pittsburgh is a perfect sized city - not too big, not too small, and plenty to do still with a variety of great bars and restaurants while being very affordable. You have the ability to buy or rent a house within city limits, find a high rise with all the amenities or a single-family home with a backyard and still tried to the hospital from either of those places within 20 minutes. Pittsburgh really does have it all!

Where did you choose to live, and why?
Shadyside!! So much to do - cute tree-lined streets make for a homey neighborhood feel while also being the "place to be" in terms of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. It's also close to all the clinical sites so nothing is more than a 10-15 minute drive even with traffic.

What advice would you give to incoming residents about moving to the 'Burgh?
You'll come to notice that so many people here said they'd only be here for their 3 years of residency but have ultimately stayed indefinitely - and there's a reason for that!  Everyone who comes to Pittsburgh loves it, it's truly a great city and Pitt EM really feels like a family. If that's what you're looking for while also getting the best EM training this may be the program for you!
