Fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound

The University of Pittsburgh Fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound is a one-year program designed to prepare leaders in the field of clinical ultrasound.

Academic Program

Weekly Grand Rounds provide the fellow with the opportunity to gain education regarding the administrative components of an ultrasound program, including quality improvement/assurance through image review, credentialing, and billing.

Fellows will provide education through lectures, courses, discussion, and during clinical work to attendings, fellows, residents, and medical students from a variety of specialties. Ample opportunities exist for research in clinical ultrasound, both independently and in collaboration with other departments such as Critical Care and Anesthesia. Each fellow will work with the ultrasound faculty to submit abstracts to national and international ultrasound and Emergency Medicine conferences as well as various academic publications.

Finally, the fellow will also be required to work an abbreviated clinical schedule in the Emergency Departments in order to maintain clinical skills. Upon completion of the program, fellows are ready to lead an ultrasound program at both academic centers and community hospitals.
