Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC
The region's pediatric referral facility and western Pennsylvania's only Level-1 Pediatric Trauma Center, Children's Hospital of UPMC is located in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood. From Ambulatory Care to Transplantation and Cardiac Care, the hospital’s talented and committed pediatric experts care for infants, children, and adolescents who each year make more than 1,000,000 visits to Children’s, its many neighborhood locations, and Children's Community Pediatrics practices.
Children's Hospital of UPMC’s Emergency Department evaluates and manages nearly 82,000 children each year. Staffed by pediatric emergency medicine specialists, and functioning as a home base for a 3-year pediatric emergency medicine fellowship program, the state-of-the-art ED includes trauma bays, critical care rooms, orthopaedic procedure rooms, and a Fast Track area where less acute illnesses and injuries are evaluated and treated.
The University of Pittsburgh Emergency Medicine residents spend over four months of their training in the Emergency Department, which is the busiest of all those affiliated with the residency.
